The modern looking terminal building at Robin Hood Airport

Robin Hood Doncaster/Sheffield Airport is the UK’s newest airport, built on the site of the former RAF Finningley.

The airport boasts one of the longest runways in the UK (2,898 metres long 60 metre wide) and is a combination of historic buildings and modern structures. 5 hangars from the airfields World War II days still remain, of which 4 are actively used by a range of companies. Hangar number 5 is occasionally used for freight handling but has been previously used for filming. The hangar has ample space with an eaves height of 35 ft, additional office space is attached to the side of the hangar.

The new terminal building has also been used for filming by both ITV’s Emmerdale and the BBC’s Hustle. The building is spread over two floors, with arrivals and departures on the ground floor and shops, bars and restaurants on the upper floor.

Surrounding the airport is a mixture of office, industrial and development land. These sites range in age and size and can be used for filming, storage or additional space for cast and crew.

Robin Hood Doncaster/Sheffield Airport is strategically located in the heart of South Yorkshire and benefits from superb transport links. The airport is situated between junction 3 & 4 of the M18 which connects to both the A1 (M) and M62 which gives access to the UK’s main north –south and east – west motorway routes.

A shuttle bus takes passengers to Doncaster Transport Interchange located 7 miles away which is the second largest interchange in the UK. The interchange lies on the East Coast Main Line and has a regular service to London, allowing travellers to be in the Capital in just over an hour and a half.
