Description

Manisty Wharf is a fascinating industrial dock on the banks of Manchester Ship Canal. The port’s main purpose is the unloading of coal onto freight trains, however, the port is now home to a glass recycling plant and disused power plant.

Manisty Wharf’s rail line runs the length of the docks and a private access road leads directly to Ellesmere Port Docks.

The site is also home to in excess of 300,000 sq ft of 1940’s warehouses. Part of these buildings still remain in use, however, the majority sit unoccupied.

Location

Manisty Wharf is situated immediately off Junction 7 of the M53, adjancent to Vauxhalls Ellesmere Port site. The town centre is just over two miles away with Ellesmere Port Train Station situated approximately one and a half miles away. Liverpool John Lennon Airport is only 30 minutes drive.

Restrictions

Filming must not interfere with the sites primary operations which include but are not limited to;

  • Loading of coal train every 12 hours
  • Unloading of freight ships
  • A glass recycling plant in operation 24/7
